SUNSHINE COAST SUPA OLDIES SOCCER INC – AN OVERVIEW.
HISTORY
THE SUNSHINE COAST SUPA OLDIES SOCCER INC (SCSOS) is an incorporated Association, which is a Non profit organisation affiliated to SUPA OLDIES SOCCER INTERNATIONAL. There are chapters all over Australia and also Overseas.
Our Local body was formed in 1994 and located at Buderim by Robbie Glover, a well known player and administrator on the Coast. The Buderim Wanderers Football Club provides the facilities for the SCSOS.
It was set up to provide an outlet for players, over 35, who still wanted to play, keep fit and have a ‘social’ interaction with like minded individuals.
This was started, in the form of a 6 a side competition on Wednesday nights. A bunch of players showed up and were formed into 5 teams on the first night in 1994. Additionally, an Annual Tournament was created, after the winter season, with 11 a side teams playing over a weekend. 6 teams turned up that first weekend.
27 years later, the Wednesday night 6 a side competition has grown to a regular 24 teams in 3 divisions and the Annual 11 a side Tournament sees over 60+ teams play from all over Australia and Overseas…making it Australia’s No. 1 Regional Masters Football Tournament
The SCSOS also sends teams in Over 35’s, Over 40’s, Over 45’s, Over 50’s Over 55’s and Over 60’s to other major tournaments including The PAN PACS, AUSTRALIAN MASTERS, WORLD MASTERS AND NORTH QLD MASTERS
The Committee is made up of Supa Oldies players with a current group of 7 dedicated Committee members.
